365 Do-Overs

For we are His handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them. (Book of Ephesians)

There is a specific work of grace allotted to every single day of our lives. A lovingly, carefully crafted plan of accomplishment, of fruitful, forward motion, of recovery if needed, of Kingdom acquisition that a God of great patience and detail has fashioned. “Prepared in advance,” leaving nothing about us to a roll of the dice.

This is the God of all the small touches and embellishments we see in the Tabernacle. This is the God of “a bell and a pomegranate, a bell and a pomegranate.” He is the Changeless One who is also The-One-Who-Is-New-Each-Day and with that newness comes our own second chance, our do-over. Our opportunity to find ourselves all over again in Him. A new opportunity to do His will, to be transformed by splendor and to transform the world around us, to do the “works God has prepared in advance that we should live in them.”

That live word is an action word, a get out there and get in it word. It reminds us that, “In Him we LIVE and Move and Have our being.” We have a seat on every Holy Ghost train leaving the station, every bus, every plane, every car, every dog sled; every new day…wherever God's Spirit is moving. Does anyone besides me want to call, “Shotgun!”

Try it tomorrow when your feet hit the floor, “SHOTGUN!”
