A Living Kiss

Into the nursery and
gently over the cradle
God gave me a kiss
a living kiss

My baby soul stirred
raised hungry lips
to the kissed baby skin
and drank a river
patient and deep

I have been His
for the keeping-
-for in all these
many changing years
the world has never
kissed me so

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6 (NIV)

Poem written on April 5th of this year as my present to the Lord on my birthday. He has loved me so well on my journey.

April is National Poetry Month. Is there a verse in your heart?

  1. I wonder if He had this poem in mind and heart when He gave that nursery-room kiss.
